Infertility Program Overview

Niugini Medical Services have been helping infertile couples for over a year now. We investigate by blood tests, urine & semen checks in addition to ultrasound; identify general issues and specific causes of infertility and treat where necessary. We refer for additional specialist tests if required. We advise couples when treatment is not possible so they can opt for adoption or pursue other forms of help only available overseas such as IVF or artificial insemination.

In our experience, many cases of infertility occur as a result of simple problems like over-weight, poor diet, personal habits as use of alcohol and smoking or untreated infections. We also found, poor understanding ovulation and timing of sex for successful pregnancy for many of these couples. 

so, what do we do;

We take blood samples, check for sex hormones, anti-mullerian hormones, prolactin, thyroid hormones, sugar and fat levels, and urine check. We also check for full blood exam and perform STI screen. In men, we also check for health of semen and in women, we do ultrasound to make sure ovaries, tubes, and uterus are all healthy.

Once all the reports are back, we discuss with patients' treatment protocol that is administered over 3-4 months so long as there is nothing stopping us from putting them on the program. We are happy that few have already become pregnant even in the first month.
